THE NEW AUSTRIA
Only € 12.- (instead € 25.-)!

The exhibition THE NEW AUSTRIA will be accompanied by a lavishly illustrated catalogue. The catalogue presents almost one hundred years of Austrian history from different perspectives, covering aspects from cultural and art history as well as economic and social history. In about 20 interesting and topical articles GÜNTER DÜRIEGL, the curatorial director of the exhibition, and an expert team (M. Rauchensteiner, A. Pelinka, H. Matis, E. Bruckmüller and others) discuss landmarks in history and analyse complex historical developments and how the Austria of today evolved. A complete list of exhibits and all pictorial and audio documents makes THE NEW AUSTRIA, the exhibition catalogue to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the State Treaty 1955/2005, an invaluable reference book.

The Museum: Mirror and Motivator of Cultural-Political Visions
1903–2003: The Österreichische Galerie Belvedere Celebrates 100 Years

The publication from the symposium that was organised by the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna from 16 to 19 October 2003.
The symposium publication not only features papers about the early museum reforms, and evaluates historical and contemporary issues and the impact of important museum professionals, it also places an emphasis on opportunities for cooperation and for developing common structures between museums, both in Austria and beyond the national borders. The Österreichische Galerie Belvedere serves as a case study in this – a “museum player” which is developing its profile in this time of “exhibition marathons” and pressure to deliver impressive visitor numbers. Approximately twenty papers and short statements by internationally renowned cultural theorists and museum professionals clarify this necessary discussion and show lines of development for meaningful and responsible museum politics.
