Donations and Gifts to the Research Center

Please support the Belvedere’s Research Center

In addition to state funding, we rely on the generosity of private donors and institutions in order to expand our collections and keep improving our services for users.

This support plays a vital role in fulfilling our mission to research Austrian art, collect and preserve documents and other media on this subject, and communicate knowledge.

Donating collection material

You can enrich our collection by giving books, documents, autograph manuscripts, photos, diaries, etc. about Austrian and international art. Artist estates (from both living and deceased artists) are an important part of the archive and can lead to interesting new discoveries.

The Research Center checks the suitability of all items before accepting donations. Please feel free to contact us by telephone or email:
Tel.: +43 1 795 57-232

Due to spatial constraints, the Library reserves the right to reject or sell donations of books if their content is not relevant or they already feature in the collection.

Advantages for donors

All monetary donations and many donations of collection material to the Research Center are tax deductible.

You can rest assured that your donated item will be professionally documented and preserved for future generations. In accordance with the legal copyright term and an agreement between the donor and the Belvedere, either the confidential deposit of your documents or their release into the public domain will be agreed on.

All donors – except for those who wish to remain anonymous – will be named on our website. In the event of particularly valuable gifts, we intend to name the donor as part of a project (e.g. in the foreword of a Belvedere publication).
