Location: Upper Belvedere, Sala terrena
Following works by gelatin (2010) and Fabian Seiz (2011), the Belvedere presents a site-related sculpture by the
Linz- and Berlin-based artist Eva Grubinger as this year’s Christmas tree. Unlike these first two Christmas trees,
Eva Grubinger’s work of this year breaks up the scale through the installation of an oversized black Christmas tree ball whose shiny surface reflects not only the Baroque Sala terrena, but also its visitors. Beyond the fascinating interplay of distortion and light, the artist’s ball virtually transforms the palace as such, turning it into a Christmas tree as a whole.
