WHW/Meeting Points 7: Zehntausend Täuschungen und hunderttausend Tricks / Ten Thousand Wiles and A Hundred Thousand Tricks
Wiener Festwochen in cooperation with the 21er Haus
What, how and for whom? are the three crucial questions for every market launch of a new product. It is against this backdrop that the eponymous curator collective from Zagreb (WHW) conceives art exhibitions, creates socio-political interactions and reflects on the artist’s position in the modern work environment.
Ten Thousand Wiles and A Hundred Thousand Tricks – a quotation from the book The Wretched of the Earth by Frantz Fanon – is both the title and the programme of an exhibition focusing on revolution and the middle class as well as on colonialisation and its complex ramifications.
By establishing local frames of reference, each stage of this worldwide exhibition project also embraces a different thematic orientation. In Vienna, the focus is on the present-day situation in the former crown lands of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Ever since its inception, the Meeting Points project has enjoyed great international attention; after Zagreb, Antwerp, Cairo, Hong Kong, Beirut and Moscow, this new edition of the exhibition series will for the first time visit Austria.
