Gender

Language constantly evolves and adapts to the needs of its users. At the Belvedere, gender-sensitive language is part of our educational and sociopolitical commitment. Our goal is to create awareness for gender diversity. Starting in 2022, for German texts, where gender is mandatorily assigned to individuals, we will utilize the gender star (*) to represent a person who identifies as transgender, intergender, or non-binary.

By preserving older texts in their original form, we are allowing the constant evolution of language to remain transparent and visible.
