History and Architecture
The Orangery was built by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt in the first quarter of the eighteenth century. Here the valuable lemon trees could be planted directly into the earth and thus grow to considerable heights. :: More |

Reconstruction of the Orangery
The architect Susanne Zottl has transformed the Orangerie into a modern exhibition facility. A White Cube was installed in the interior, constructed to show works of art from all epochs. The south-side windows open up a view onto the Kammergarten, the Privy Garden. |
The Orangery, the former Pomeranzenhaus ("Orange House") of Prince Eugene is used for regularly changing temporary exhibitions.
