The original main entrance was situated on the south side of the Upper Belvedere, still detectable in the driveway ramps. From there the guest was able to ascend to the main floor of the palace directly via the ceremonial staircase. The sala terrena also provides access to the main staircase and thus the ascent to the upper floor. Walls and ceiling of the central staircase are adorned with rich stucco work; the two large-scale figural scenes on the side walls allude to the virtues of Antique military generals as identification figures for Prince Eugene.
