***“Without realizing it at the time, I had already begun to be more interested in space than in the image.”***

Marko Lulić studied painting, but early on, his attention shifted to the spaces in between, to the way works are hung, and eventually to space itself. Today, his work often takes shape outside the traditional studio: Lulić conceives sculptures, installations, and videos that are realized on site and engage with architecture and urban space.

In the Belvedere Studio Visits series, the Belvedere visits artists associated with the museum in their working environments. The videos offer personal insights into studios, creative processes, and current projects – and show how contemporary art is created.

For **Belvedere Studio Visits**, the Belvedere therefore meets **Marko Lulić** in public space and at TU Wien, where he teaches. He talks about his artistic practice, architecture, monuments, and ideologies. His connection to the Belvedere dates back to the development of what is now Belvedere 21: in 2009, his work Museum of Revolution was installed on the roof of the newly constructed office tower next to the museum, which was still undergoing renovation at the time. For Lulić, the project was shaped in part by questions about what a museum is – and what a museum should be in the future.
