The Age of Dürer. Austria at the Gate of the Renaissance
What a great period it was! In Italy, the country of its birth, the Renaissance gave people a view of the world's beauty around them for the first time. The "will to know" took the place of faith. Driven by an insatiable quest for knowledge, artists became scholars and developed a groundbreaking understanding of nature, space, and human anatomy. What consequences did these developments have for Austrian art in the 1500s? An excursion exploring tradition and modernity, awakenings and radical change.
