PROGRAM
The works of Viennese sculptor Fritz Wotruba (1907-75) are considered timeless classics of modern sculpture. He concentrated on working with natural materials. Stone was his ultimate challenge because of its hardness and resistance, while the human body was his central theme. Wotruba began by portraying the human form realistically, but he soon began to experiment with rendering the basic elements of his figures in a more uninhibited and abstract manner. He created block-like works using cubes and rectangles and later incorporated cylinders, columns, and pillars. Join us for a tactile tour of the Wotruba Depot, where you can get up close and personal with the artists original tools and the materials and forms of his sculptures!
Inclusive art viewing with a focus on multisensory experiences for sighted, visually impaired and blind visitors. Seating accommodation is provided.
