Queering the Belvedere
Eurovision Song Contest at the Belvedere 21
To celebrate the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, Belvedere 21 is hosting a queer program with a public screening event on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4 p.m. until after midnight—with free admission.
Visitors can explore the exhibitions by Sandra Mujinga, Sue Williams, and Friedl Kubelka / vom Gröller with free admission. Guided tours in German and English offer insights into the building’s and the surrounding area’s eventful history. For all singing enthusiasts, the open rehearsal of the Chors der schönen Aussichten choir offers the chance to raise one’s own voice. This will be followed by a performance by Bernadette La Hengst with the choir. Dean Vuletic will shed light on the political dimension of the Eurovision Song Contest and its significance for the queer community. MC Denice Bourbon will host the evening and provide commentary on the semifinals.
The Eurovision evening kicks off this year’s edition of the QUEERING THE BELVEDERE program series, through which the Belvedere has been championing diversity, tolerance, and respect for difference since 2019. Additional events will follow in June at the Upper Belvedere and Belvedere 21.
