Time-Slot System for the
Upper Belvedere

On July 1, 2019 a time-slot ticket system is being introduced for the Upper Belvedere. This means that you need to book a fixed entrance time for your visit to the Upper Belvedere, which is noted on the ticket.

The aim is to avoid queues at the museum entrance.

Please note: There are no constraints on the time you spend in the museum.

Visitors with the following passes/tickets are not required to collect a time-slot ticket at the ticket desk and can go straight to the entrance:

  • Belvedere annual ticket

  • Friends of the Belvedere card

  • Bundesmuseen-Card

  • Vienna Pass or Flexi Pass

  • All online tickets purchased before June 27 (without a noted admission time)

We are looking forward to your visit!

Avoid Waiting Times

The Upper Belvedere attracts particularly large numbers of visitors from Friday to Sunday, on public holidays, and during school holidays in summer, at Christmas and at Easter.

It is busiest between 11 am and 2 pm. We know how frustrating long waits can be and therefore advise you to plan your visit at an off-peak time. The museum opens at 9 am and on Fridays stays open until 9 pm.

Please be aware that during peak periods you may have to queue in front of the museum and wait before you can enter some of the exhibition rooms.

Upper Belvedere:
Extended Opening Hours in August

Extended opening times in the holiday season: Throughout August the Upper Belvedere will be open from 9 am - 7 pm.

Ticket desks close one hour before closing time. No changes to Friday opening times 9 am–9 pm; ticket desks close at 9 pm.

Tip: Avoid peak times between 11 am and 2 pm.

Event Booking

From August 1, 2019, you can book events directly online instead of using the previous reservation system.
