Lesekreis: Science-Fiction zwischen Kunst, KI und Gesellschaft

Welche neuen Sichtweisen auf unsere Gegenwart eröffnet Science-Fiction? Im Lesekreis zur Ausstellung Miao Ying. Come, Sit, Stay wollen wir literarische Perspektiven auf Künstliche Intelligenz (KI), digitale Kulturen und gesellschaftliche Zukunftsentwürfe erkunden. Die ausgewählten Erzählungen behandeln das Verhältnis von Mensch und Maschine und werfen dabei Fragen nach Erinnerung, Identität, Fürsorge und technologischer Macht auf – Themen, die auch in der künstlerischen Praxis von Miao Ying eine zentrale Rolle spielen. 

Bei diesem Termin lesen wir gemeinsam die Kurzgeschichte The Truth of Fact, the Truth of Feeling von Ted Chiang.

Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich. Der Lesekreis richtet sich an alle, die sich für zeitgenössische Kunst, Science-Fiction und die gesellschaftlichen Dimensionen technologischer Entwicklungen interessieren.

Science Fiction on Art, AI, and Society 
Thursday, 1 October 2026, 6 – 7.30 pm

What new perspectives does science fiction offer on our present-day world? In the reading group accompanying the exhibition Miao Ying: Come, Sit, Stay we want to explore literary views on artificial intelligence (AI), digital cultures, and visions of society’s future. The selected stories examine the relationship between humans and machines, raising questions about memory, identity, care, and technological power—subjects that play a central role in Miao Ying’s artistic practice.

In this session we will together read the short story The Truth of Fact, the Truth of Feeling by Ted Chiang.

No prior knowledge is required. This reading group is open to anyone interested in contemporary art, science fiction, and the social implications of technological developments.
